Paint Booth Fire Suppression System (Lic #: 1081015 C-16)

Semi-Annual Certification Paint Booth System (Lic #: 1081015 C-16)

What Happens During the Certification?

During this service, a technician:

  • System Activates Testing:

    • Manual Control Box: Physical testing of the control box pull station to ensure it triggers the system properly.

    • Automatic Detection: Testing the "link line" or electronic sensors that trigger the system automatically when heat or flame is detected.

  • Component Inspection & Maintenance:

    • Fusible Links: Cleaning or replacing the heat-sensitive links that melt to trigger the system.

    • Nozzles: Visual inspection and cleaning to ensure they are free of paint overspray, grease, or clogs.

    • Piping & Conduit: Checking discharge piping and pulleys for damage, bends, or obstructions.

  • Agent & Cylinder Verification:

    • Pressure Gauges: Verifying that storage cylinders are at the correct operating pressure.

    • Cylinder Weights: Weighing the cartridges/cylinders to ensure they contain the full amount of extinguishing agent.

    • Hydrostatic Dates: Checking the dates on the tanks to ensure they haven't expired (typically required every 12 years).

  • Safety Interlocks:

    • Automatic Shutoffs: Verifying the "shunt trip" or micro-switches correctly shut down exhaust fans, spray equipment, and electrical power upon activation.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Certification Tag: A new, dated service interval tag is attached to the system and pull station.

  • Detailed Report: You will receive a written report for your records, which is critical for fire marshal inspections and insurance audits.

  • Compliance Check: An assessment to ensure the booth's hazard level hasn't changed (e.g., you haven't added equipment the system wasn't designed to cover).
